So Rob and Melissa scored a turkey fryer for Christmas. I had the opportunity to be there for the maiden voyage. It seems that every year about this time there are plenty of news reports about people who burn their houses down trying to deep fry a turkey so I showed up with my camera to document the occasion. The preparation of the turkey was quite a spectacle in itself.
When he first dropped the turkey in the fryer, I was laughing because I could just see the whole thing going up in flames. Instead of offering advice, helping, or even being somewhat useful, I just snapped photos while laughing. See the picture progression...
There were a few flames, but nothing burst into flames like I thought they would. There was an issues with too much oil but there was too much oil which had to be removed by hand.
The turkey actually turned out to be very tasty. Although it was a lot of work, Rob cut up the turkey and removed the meat from the carcass.
Although there was no fire, the turkey was good and fun was had by all. Good job, Rob!
